Our Story
A personal journey from healing hands to healing access.
“From a cafeteria conversation… to a complete shift in the massage industry.”
It started with a simple question.
It started with a man in pain… and a system that couldn’t help him.
I was sitting in the cafeteria when one of the mailroom staff walked over and asked if he could sit.
He’d seen me around. He knew I was a massage therapist. He had questions… and I had time.
He wanted to know about casino massage. He wanted to know how it worked. He wanted to know if it could help with pain.
Back pain. Shoulder pain. His partner’s migraines. His mother’s arthritis.
One question turned into ten. And I answered every single one.
Because I love talking about this work. Because this work changes lives. Because massage is not a luxury—massage is medicine.
I told him what most people never hear. That it’s not just Swedish and Deep Tissue under dim spa lights. That there are dozens of modalities… That massage lives in hospitals, in sports clinics, in rehab centers, in private homes…
That it’s a vast wellness world… One that most people never get to enter.
And then he said what so many people say.
That hit me hard. Because it’s real.
Pain doesn’t discriminate. But access does.
People want to feel better… but the system makes them jump through hoops. Spas charge triple. Therapists get underpaid. Clients get overwhelmed.
And healing? Healing gets lost in the noise.
He asked me how to find someone affordable. He asked me how to reach out. He asked… and asked… and I gave him all I could.
Google. Facebook. Instagram. Some tips. Some keywords. A bit of hope.
But when he left, I didn’t feel good. I felt frustrated.
That night, I drove home with his face in my mind. His story echoed the stories of so many others I’ve met.
People in pain. People ready. People who just don’t know where to begin.
That is the disconnect. Between the need… and the path.
Massage shouldn’t be a maze. Massage shouldn’t feel mysterious. Massage shouldn’t be behind a paywall, a velvet curtain, or a damn algorithm.
So I asked myself… What if we built something better?
What if we created a way for therapists to do what we really love—not sales… not pricing battles… not social media posts… But healing.
Deep, meaningful, intelligent healing. The kind of healing we trained for. The kind of healing the world deserves.
A space where therapists can be found. Where clients can search intuitively. Where pain doesn’t have to wait. Where wellness is not a mystery—it’s a menu.
Sommnest isn’t just an app. It’s a philosophy. A framework. A full-circle return to what massage is meant to be.
Not fluff. Not fluffing egos. Not candlelit clichés. But clinical. Human. Powerful. Accessible.
Sommnest exists to make that happen. For the therapist. For the client. For the man in the cafeteria… And the millions just like him.
